The challenge is to create and video a piece of performance art such as a playlet, skit, dance, song, poem or rap lasting no more than ten minutes on the theme of Humanism and Humanity – A Code For Life.
Entrants must be aged 18 or over and be students at either York St John or York University.
A video of the performance art may be entered by a single student or by a group of students. Likewise, the performance may be by an individual or a group. The video must not exceed ten minutes in length and must be submitted on a memory stick.
Submissions open on Thursday, 22nd January. Video entries of the performance must be submitted on a memory stick (USB flash drive), along with name/s and contact details, by Sunday, 22nd March, to: NYHComp, 8 Young Drive, Market Weighton, YO43 3RL.
There will be one winning video, and only one prize will be awarded. The winner will receive an expenses-paid trip to an event of their choice, such as a visit to a concert, a thrill ride in a helicopter, a hot air balloon ride, or driving a racing car, up to a value of £200.
If a group of entrants wins, they will receive £200 to be divided amongst the group members.
An awards evening will be open to all entrants, where a presentation will be made to the winners.
In addition, the winners will also be invited to promote their entries and join North Yorkshire Humanists in devising and delivering agreed outreach activities that promote awareness and understanding of humanism.
Since the competition was announced, we have changed our name from York Humanists to North Yorkshire Humanists.
